The IBM Banking Data Warehouse and IBM Cognos BI for management information system have been implemented at JSC “State Savings Bank of Ukraine”. Kiev, Ukraine. 2011-2013.
At the biggest state-owned retail bank in Ukraine were implemented IBM Banking Data Warehouse based on IBM InfoSphere Information Server platform. In addition, an management information system based on IBM Cognos BI has been launched. Key project drivers were regulatory compliance to World Bank reporting requirements in the credit risk area and to requirements of the National Bank of Ukraine for implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IAS 39, IFRS 9, IFRS 8).
In addition to IBM BDW and IBM Cognos BI, within the project has been developed analytical applications: financial balance and income statement, management balances and income statements (banking books), transfer module and spread analysis module, customer segmentation module and customer profitability analysis, Deloitte module for IAS 39/IFRS9 reserves calculations. In addition, a monitoring system for Data Warehouse data load, auto-testing and data processing had been developed. First releases of MIS reporting listed below.
Management Board reporting:

The first release had been implemented within 12 months. The main economic effect of the introduction of IBM BDW was:
— Protection of the bank’s operating margin based on the implementation of the FTPs;
— Centralization of the General Ledger and Back-office transactions out of 26 banking systems in the regions;
— Centralization of contractual data for the loan and deposit portfolios of the bank;
— Centralization of liquidity risk management;
— Synchronization of the main dictionaries of the bank;
— Reducing the time and manual labor for reports (from several days to 1-45 seconds);
— Improving data management and data quality.
